Aspects

Aspects are sets of attributes and references that Entities, Codebooks, and other Aspects can inherit. These shared aspects reduce repetitive work.

For example, the attributes Created By and Created Date can be combined as a TimeStamp. [See Inheritance and Reusability in the Support Ticket Tutorial Advanced Topics.]

There are two ways to establish Aspects that can be shared.

1. Create from Scratch

On the Aspects subsection header, click (+) to create a new entry. Or type Ctrl + Shift + C to access the general create dialogue.

Define the Attributes and the References as you would on an Entity or a Codebook.

2. Extract a Shared Aspect from an Entity

Go to an entity. In the Data Definition > Attributes section, click Magic Wand in the upper right corner, then choose: Extract Shared Aspect

Define the New Aspect Name by which this group of Aspects will be known (i.e., Time Stamp).

Select the attributes that will be included (i.e., Created By and Created Date).
